The Military, or Armed Forces, is historically an organization designed to bring people together to organize and train for warfare, but in modern day, it can also be a great pathway to a career. The military consists of several branches – Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corp, Coast Guard, and Space Force. All branches offer active duty opportunities and all but the Space Force has a reserve corps, where members can engage in a minimal time commitment for some of the same benefits. Each enlisted member is given a job upon joining their chosen branch and subsequent training and school take place from there.
Not necessarily. Many branches offer the opportunity for members to choose whether or not they would be willing to volunteer for jobs that see combat.
Once you enlist, you are automatically given job options based on your entrance testing scores. When you have selected a job, you get training for that job particular job. Oftentimes that training equates to skills that can be transferred to a civilian job once you leave the military. The military also offers free schooling of your choice through a system of universities located near your duty station. And once you have completed your military service, you are also eligible for the GI Bill, which is grant based money, to help fund further education.
