Running Start

Running Start is an opportunity for students in 11th or 12th grade in high school to attend college courses that earn them college credit and count for high school credit. Running start is currently a free program and takes place in many of the local community colleges and universities. Students are still considered high school students but they attend classes on the campus for which they are enrolled in Running Start courses. Running Start gives students the chance to earn college credits while still in high school, many have the ability to earn a full associates degree by the time they graduate. Having these college courses completed in high school gives the student the advantage of only needing to complete 2 more years of school if their goal is to enroll in a University.
