About this career
A licensed practical nurse (LPN) is a nurse who cares for people who are sick, injured, convalescent, or disabled. LPNs work under the direction of registered nurses or physicians. Often, they provide basic bedside care, give injections, and monitor vital signs. They assist with dressing, and personal hygiene, moving, and might also feed patients. Experienced LPNs may supervise nursing assistants, aides, and other LPNs.
