About this career
Diesel mechanics repair, maintain, and rebuild diesel engines that power vehicles. Mechanics run diagnostic tests and then replace faulty parts. Because diesel engines are expensive to replace, they are rebuilt at regular intervals. Mechanics take the engines completely apart, replace worn parts, and put the engines back together.
